Sleepless Gamers

Visual identity and product design for a Baltimore-based livestreaming and matchmaking startup.

Sleepless Gamers was an attempt to disrupt a video game livestreaming market dominated by Twitch. Its ICP was unsuccessful Twitch streamers, and its value prop was simple a “King of the Hill” style tournament model where streamers could join forces to net higher viewership and build an audience via cross-pollination. My initial role with Sleepless Gamers was to build a visual identity and style guide, as well as to bring the King of the Hill and adjacent feature sets to life via hi-fi mockups and prototypes.

The vision was for the platform to eventually include a vast array of casual and competitive matchmaking, streaming and social features to provide users with a community in the true sense of the word: a place where they felt seen, heard and valued, rather than a nameless face in the crowd.

A few high-fidelity mockups for stream browsing, onboarding, user profile and community pages.

One early research initiative was a product-market fit survey, circulated through peer groups on Reddit and Discord as well as via social media. In addition to verifying product-market fit, the survey would serve as a baseline for creating ICP personas, help gauge interest in the platform, and uncover possibilities for post-MVP features.

As the project evolved and additional team members joined the fray, we evolved the Sleepless Gamers concept into a broader vision that extended beyond tournament-style play – read the case study for Endeavors.tv to learn more!
